Since 1915, the Fisheries Council of Canada has been the voice of Canada’s fish and seafood industry, promoting a sustainable resource and a prosperous sector that plays a vital role in the Canadian economy.
Our members make up the majority of the fish and seafood production industry in Canada and include Canada’s major seafood processors and importers.
The Canadian seafood industry generates
$9 billion in contributions to the national GDP annually.
Canada ranks in the top five counrties globally in the adoption of third-party sustainability certification, and 95% of Canadian fisheries are harvested at sustainable levels.
